cellulose fibres, mineral binder

Sprayed cellulose wall prototype photographed in the workshop.

This placeholder entry describes a sprayed cellulose wall prototype, built to test a layered spraying sequence on a vertical formwork. The wall segment was built up in thin passes, each pass left to set before the next was applied, producing a surface with a soft, fibrous texture.

The material mixture was varied slightly from the base to the top of the panel, so the lower courses carried more binder for early stiffness while the upper courses stayed lighter and more porous. This gradient was tracked by hand during the spraying session rather than by an automated system.

After curing, the panel was inspected for cracking, surface finish and overall stability, and the results informed the next round of mixture tests. The prototype now stands in the workshop as a reference piece for future spraying sessions.
